Tuneeeee innnnnnnn

I still remember that in my childhood days every morning my dad used to tune his radio set to AIR (all india radio) listing to news and some early morning songs and ragas. After 9 am the radio is shut....Now wrommmmmmmmmmmmmm into todays world the box dosent stop singing. Now Like in Tv where you have several channel to view now you have several channels to listen tooo.Enter into the world of FM,well few people dont actually know the meaning of FM.Some even said Finance Minsiter fot that :).

All of a sudden there is quite influx of FM channels into the cool & calm bangalore listening world.Lets rewind back and start from begining .It all started with FM 91(radio city) which was the sole player for more than 2 years + , it went with an attitude of metropolitan with all the hip and happening RJ's speaking in stylish english playing Hindi & english songs. It struck a good chord with the youth and the IT crowd. It went on like this for a quite long time with no other channel for contentions.

Then the second one landed called the FM 98.5 (Radio Mirchi).Well they didnt enter into the field without doing proper homework. They found that if RJ's spoke in the local language then it would garner all the listners who knew the language. So all the RJ's conducted the programes vocing the local language kannada and playing Hindi songs ,like this they can catter both the people who didnt knew the language and also to those who knows.

Latest entrent is the Fm 94.3(radio one),they too did some grownd work.To start with they sensed that the local population was let down because of the local language songs played. Finally they came with a package of RJ's conducting the programs voicing the local language and alternate songs of kannada (i.e the local language) & Hindi songs playing.

There are still othere's in this listerners pool such as World space & Fm 101.3 (FM Rainbow --> over own AIR's FM channel).

Well to speak about World Space , If you compare your own cable TV package ,you have understool all.You need to buy specified Radio box and it has plenty of channels to choose for which you will have to subscribe for.As I have observed it very useful for establishements like cafe, resturents, hotel etc.You are treated with high quality digitalzed sound without any intruption of constant nagging adds and it dosent have any geological boundries.

The there is the Fm 101.3,which was in the fray of Fm channels since from the beginning it was completely overshadowed by Fm 91.With the influx of the new entrents it is going to happen more.I belive that the Rainbow will never log out and it will always be there.

so you can see people tuning to one or the other channel while they walk , drive etc.It happened once my old grandmother had been here and she saw couple of good looking girls had plugged the earphones of there mobile and listing to the songs played in FM ,my granny told me that she felt very sad for those girls.I asked why ? She said god shouldn't have made them hearing impared at this very young age. At first I dint get what she was saying ,then I had a hughe laugh.:):)

Well the listing space has hot up with each and everyone having its own plus and minus.Radio city plays for niche audience with good programe content & english songs + the popular RJ's.Contrary to that it looses with having too many adds between songs and no or less local langiage spoken or songs played.Radio Mirchi wins with RJ's speaking local language & and less adds played, butit looses out with no english songs programe ,quality of signal & less local language songs. With Radio one having plus points like less adds, local songs, local language spoken but looses with ok signal , no english programes.

But there is a long way to go with new entrants to come in and so on .As of now it is the people who are benifited and they are tuning to their own tastes or channel changing at there own instincts.I say there is few more people who are benified by Fm like the mobiles companys, mobiles with Fm integrated are selling like hot cakes...you can go one step ahead and say that it has become a default requirement.

So I leave uuuuuu to decide to Tunnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeee innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn and enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
